The Girl on Fire is also The Girl of Coal

Entertainment Weekly has released this photo of Lionsgate’s production of The Hunger Games featuring Katniss and Peeta wearing costumes designed by Cinna. Director Gary Ross told the magazine:

“What Cinna was trying to do was create something that came out of District 12, out of a coal mining world, with a fresh, bold look to it. So Judianna went to this wonderful black reflective material that glistened like coal or graphite and would obviously work well in the Tribute parade where Katniss becomes the Girl on Fire.”

The Hunger Games is set to be released on March 23, 2012.

Heavy Textbooks, No More

There’s no doubt that Apple is a company dedicated to revolutionize the products we use. Now they are out on a mission to change the way we use textbooks. Just this morning, during their Education Event in New York, Apple announced iBooks 2 and with it and various partnership with some of the biggest textbook publishers out there a whole new way to read textbooks.

There’s really no better way to explain this than by seeing it in action, but in short, a textbook on the iPad is as good as it gets. With immersive content, video, updated information and a great way to take notes, a multi-touch textbook is just right. From this college student’s point of view, the best part is the pricing Apple has set a limit on textbook pricing, all textbooks on the iBooks Store must be $14.99 or lower.

New 52 and a New Logo

Halfway through 2011 DC Comics announced a reboot that’s been called the New 52. This brought mixed emotions but ultimately has proved to be quite lucrative, introducing tons of new readers to their franchise. This month DC announced it’s new logo and the internet has been buzzing about it with views for and against it. Personally, I think it’s a change for the better, the new logo is clean, recognizable and easy to manipulate and adapt depending on the situation.

Discuss away.
